An Open Letter to the Graduates

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GRADUATES

By: Ronald P. Cerezo

Yes! this is it!
Aim High. Dream High.
CONGRATULATIONS!

After all those years of labor, hardships, perseverance, dedication and with strong concrete determination, finally! You may now, walk down the isle wearing that Shining Toga with a smile from ear to ear. Proud and Thankful.

Iyong unang pagkikita sa unang araw ng pasukan bilang Freshman, nangangatog at nakakapanindig balahibo na INTRODUCING YOURSELF for the whole day!

The scenario is: 1st day - pag-iisipan kung ano ang mga dapat gawin (brainstorming) 2nd day - follow-up, biglang may sumingit na schedule or another requirements from the other subject or unit, nakalimutan. During the presentation day or the deadline lahat kayo cramming at nababalisa, may sisihan at minsan ding hindi pagkaka-unawaan.

How about the COPY-PASTE method? That's why we called; STUDENT, for us to learn by our own example and design.

In my part, how about those students that are striving hard to survive to finish their studies, but due to lacking of financial assistance, family problems, personal matter and failure. Decided to stop attending school and choose to get employed with a minimum salary rate or let us say 120-150 pesos bracket of salary just to help their families and also to support themselves.

Honestly, I'm one of the victims of poverty, broken family and lack of resources, but still I survive through trying my best to compete with degree holders, educated individuals and even professionals. To tell you I already visited the 27 Provinces and 33 Cities herein Mindanao excluding the Visayas and Luzon areas. Through my "DISKARTE" and power of TALKING BIG PEOPLE regardless their titles and state of living, I learned a lot, more than a student who dwell his/her 4 years in school just to gain the said DEGREE. But for me, the real world of learning is to COMMUNICATE and INTERACT with outside people, community, friends and peer groups.

I'm not saying that, EDUCATION is useless but to tell you the meaning of EDUCATION, what you learned during our school days are just THEORY or BASIC LEARNING, for instance, a teacher who teach students still need to study his/her lessons for his/her students that's why teacher will always prepare their lesson plan. Doctors needs practice. Chef does research and experimentation. Engineers dreamed ideas. Scientists seek discoveries.

Every career needs EDUCATION.

Lastly, don't forget to say THANK YOU to your sponsors, friends and especially your family that truly supporting you in all ways. To your Mama and Papa, Nanay and Tatay, Daddy and Mommy or what you usually call your parents, they are the backbone and the concrete base of the success that you have now. Misunderstanding, PAMPALASA lang yan sa buhay natin. Kneel down, fold your hands, center your faith and Glory His Name.

To the students also (like me) na hindi pa nakapagtapos, don't stop dreaming and aiming. As what I learned from the BFP Chairman of General Santos City as what he said "READY . . . FIRE . . . AIM" think about that three words and you'll find out.

Again, I hope this open letter of mine, really touch your brain and open your brain not the heart because heart function is JUST TO PUMP BLOOD (don't get me wrong HAHAHA :D ) God bless you always O:) and good luck.

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES! O:) (Y)
